My thoughts on Poetry

When children in my class first heard that we were doing poetry as a subject that term there were heaps of groans and moans, and "I can't write!"and "I hate reading in front of the whole class!" They made it sound like a horror. But secretly I was thinking about how this may be a little fun. Then when we first were told we had to learn a poem I thought, OK, I might try to write my own original work. So I did and to my suprise, it wasn't as hard as it seemed.

When I came to school I thought that everyone would have written their own work seeing as it was easy to ryhme and think. But actually, no one had written anything of their own. When I stood up on the platform I was really scared, since no-one else had written anything as it was too hard. I thught it meant that mine would be really bad. But when I had finished reading out my poem I actually got a lot of good comments and a little bit of applause, but it was only when Mrs Hosie told me there was a poetry competition coming up and that I should enter that I realised I had a talent for writing poems.

As we went further into doing poetry I started to enjoy it even more. I learnt how to draw my readers' attention in and set a pattern through the whole poem. When I was finished my poetry file I was happy. It was only today that Mrs Hosie told me I had my own blog to write about my poetry. So to sum up - poetry is simple, it's a lot of fun for everyone.
