This is for people who might enjoy writing poetry as much as I do, give it a try, here's a plan to help you.
When you start you poem think of what you want to base it on, i.e. Colours, weather or maybe even seasons. For this one I have chosen Colours.
The next step is to make a list of words to do with your subject. Here are some I thought of for colours.
Red, yellow, orange, green, rainbows, feeling red- angry, feeling blue- fear, feeling green- envious.
The next step is to try and match a rhyme to each one:
Red-head.
Yellow-mellow.
orange-???
green-mean
Rainbow-???
After this I began to think of feelings or emotions that could go with these.
Red-head. When I think of red I think dark and angry, sometimes frustrated or wondering why this is happening- which means you need exclamation.
Yellow-mellow- Yellow always seems a happy bright colour, also the bright dazzling colour leaves you confused.
orange-???- you cancel out this one as you couldn't find the match.
green-mean When I think of green it makes me think of envy But when I think of envy I also think there is a reason for envy such as being left out or holding things in, kind of like diluting your feelings.
Rainbow-??? No pair so you cancel this out.
Now you have got some ideas, rhymes and a subject, so you can now begin to write.
I began by using a set of my rhymes in my first paragraphs.
Yellow is a feeling of mellow, confused or amused.
Red makes you mad in the head, frustration or in need of exclamation.
Green makes you envious or mean, excluded or feelings diluted.
These are the feelings of the rainbow.
So there's the first verse of the poem, now all you have to do is write the second verse.
You could use the same technique from above, or you could try this one.
We have chosen our subject and we have found words and matches and so on until we wrote our first verse, so now we will try writing about how these things came
So with the line: Yellow is the feeling of mellow, confused or amused.
We could think of a magical place hat this feeling could come from, such as an dragon. Make sure if the poem is happy, you choose happy characters, and if it is bad then choose bad characters.
A dragon sprinkles ashes high from the sky, drop that yellow feeling on the wings of an eagle as it flies.
Red makes you mad in the head, frustration or in need of exclamation.
For this line we could use a devil as the character.
The devil splashes fire from his staff, Throw it back and turn it into a laugh.
Now with green we could use a wizard for the character.
The wizard chants a myth at you, turn that envy green to a bright happy blue.
So there is another lot of sentences, lets put it into a paragraph.
A dragon sprinkles ashes form the sky, drop that yellow feeling on the wings of an eagle as it flies.
The devil splashes fire from its staff, throw it back and turn it into a laugh.
The wizard chants a myth at you, turn that envy blue to a bright happy blue.
This is a way to stop them.
Now to make it all into a poem, and give it a title.
Rainbow feelings
Yellow is a feeling of mellow, confused or amused.
Red makes you mad in the head, frustration or in need of exclamation.
Green makes you envious or mean, excluded or feelings diluted.
These are the feelings of the rainbow.
I hope this helps you write a poem, try it.
